The parish was
officially formed from three adjacent parishes on September 21, 1977 by
the late Archbishop Francis J. Fury, and was named for the newly named American
Saint, St. John Neumann, who was canonized in Rome on June 19, 1977. The
Reverend Tony Cummings was our first pastor. Succeeding pastors have been
Msgr. Robert Silverman, July 1990 until his death in November 2004 and Rev.
Eduardo Morales, June 2005 - June 2008. We were then blessed to have a Parochial Vicar for the first time in our history, Rev. Alex Pereida (2008-2009). The current Pastor (Administrator) is Rev. Octavio
Muguerza.
Incorporated within the parish grounds is the church dedicated on Palm Sunday,
March 30, 1980, the Education Building completed in October 1979, the Family
Center dedicated on November 30, 1985, a carillon Bell Tower completed on
May 13, 1988, and a multi-purpose building completed in November 1999. Parish
grounds were enhanced with the addition of a Flag Plaza in May 1997, and
a Memorial Walkway in May 2002. Additionally, a Fatima Garden was constructed
and dedicated on November 5, 2006. |
