Welcome to SJN. Join us every Sunday to share in the Love of God. At SJN you will find that much is offered to uplift the soul through the Word of God and through our friendship building ministries and organizations. Usually there are fun events for fellowship growth and bible studies or retreats for our spiritual needs. We are here for each other to help with our daily journey with God. This Sunday, celebrate with us the passion and love of Christ.

23rd Sunday of Ordinary Time
"Great crowds were traveling with Jesus, and he turned and addressed them, 'If anyone comes to me without hating his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple. Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple. Which of you wishing to construct a tower does not first sit down and calculate the cost to see if there is enough for its completion? Otherwise, after laying the foundation and finding himself unable to finish the work the onlookers should laugh at him and say, 'This one began to build but did not have the resources to finish.' Or what king marching into battle would not first sit down and decide whether with ten thousand troops he can successfully oppose another king advancing upon him with twenty troops? But if not, while he is still far away, he will send a delegation to ask for peace terms. In the same way, anyone of you who does not renounce all his possessions cannot be my disciple.'"
Luke 14:25-33
This one took me for a loop. I have to hate my parents, my spouse, my brother, AND my kids?! What gives?! I had to read and reread, at least 4 times, to finally see the light. It's at the very end. Denounce all your earthly possessions. Your children, are not your children, your parents, not your parents. We are all brothers and sisters in the eyes of the Lord. No one should come before the Lord, we need to love Him with all our heart and soul. He is our #1. ~VS
